John Charles Latta, son of Warren J. and Hattie E. Latta, was born at New Buda, Iowa, March 25, 1903, and died March 5, 1919, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Otho Wishon, near Saline, Mo., after an illness of three weeks with typhoid fever, age at the time of death, 15 years, 11 months and 8 days. He leaves to mourn his loss, his father and the following brothers and sisters: Perry, who is now serving his country in France; James E., of U. S. Marine Aviation Force, Miami, Florida Mrs. Clarence Vandel, of Mercer. Mo.: Mrs. Otho Wishon, of Saline, Mo. Mrs. Oscar Tellier, of Davis City, and Geo. W, of Davis City, who is still at home. His mother and four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Charlie will be greatly missed by his relatives and friends as he was always kind and obedient and always had a pleasant word for everyone. He was a patient sufferer, never complaining and always cheerful. When asked by his friends how he felt would always reply that he was feeling better. On account of the bad roads and the delay in getting to Davis City, funeral services were not held at the church as intended, but short services were held at the cemetery, conducted by William J. Campbell, and interment in the old cemetery.
Card of Thanks—We desire to thank the many friends for the sympathy and kindness shown to us in our great sorrow. Warren J. Latta and Family.
