Daniel Greenland came to Iowa with his family around 1840. They settled in Jefferson County, Iowa, before moving to Decatur county. He was married to Mary Bradshaw in 1849. Her family came to Illinois from Tennessee in 1833. They lived in Jefferson County, Iowa, before moving to Grand River. They lived on the Greenland place a mile northwest of Grand River. They built the big house in 1894.

Daniel and Mary had seven children. They were Margaret Ann (Snook), Susan (Belle), Joshua (Bud), Joel, Franklin (Cooney), William and Lieu T. Daniel died in 1907 and Mary in 1913.

Lieu (1870-1945) first married Minnie Hazen. They had three sons: Emmett, Robert and Harland. After the death of his first wife in 1905, he married Stella McKee, the daughter of Thomas and Armelda Fullerton. She was the widow of Alva McKee, and they were the parents of two children, Letha (Munyon) and Roy McKee.

Lieu and Stella had two children: Mary (Mrs. Ellree Brown) and Louis (deceased in 1945). Lieu was a successful farmer, stock raiser and cattle feeder. Lieu was united with Mt. Zion Christian Church and was a member of Banner No. 437 Masonic Lodge.
