BIOGRAPHY ~ WILLIAM M. GIBSON
1824 ~ 1901
Biographical and Historical Record of Ringgold and Decatur Counties, Iowa
(Lewis Publishing Company (1887)), p. 691:

"WILLIAM GIBSON, farmer and stock-raiser, section 9, Garden Grove Township, was born in Clermont County, Ohio, September 22, 1824, son of Samuel and Margaret (Moyer) Gibson, also natives of Ohio. The father died in Decatur County, in 1868, aged seventy-four years. He was reared to the vocation of a farmer, which he has followed all his life. He was married in Clermont County, in 1847, to Leanna Mayer, born in that county, in 1824, and died in 1864. Their children were – Harlan P., Arthur, Margaret, Gracie, Franklin, James, who married Alice Cook, and Ada O., wife of William Marsh, has two children, Matilda and Harlan.

"April 20, 1866, Mr. [William] Gibson married Mary A. Lillard, and they have one child – Carlotta. Mr. Gibson had three brothers, who served in the late war. He owns 175 acres of land, all in a good state of cultivation."
