Obituary ~ Vida Inez (Smith) Davis
January 16, 1889 ~ October 24, 1954
The daughter of R.L.D.S. Apostle and Church Historian Heman C. Smith and Vida Elizabeth Smith, Vida Inez was born January 16, 1889, San Bernardino, California. She married James William Davis June 12, 1913 at Lamoni, Iowa. A R.L.D.S. Historian; she authored of the well-known volume The Story of the Church: A History of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and of Its Legal Successor, the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Vida died October 24, 1954, Independence, Missouri.

James William Davis, born September 21, 1879, Antrim County, Michigan. James was baptized into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on February 17, 1889 and on October 6, 1900 he was ordained as a priest. On June 11, 1905 James was ordained an elder and later on April 16, 1906 he was ordained a seventy. On April 13, 1918 he was ordained a president of the Seventy and was chosen senior president of the Seventy in April of 1926. In March of 1847 he was ordained as an evangelist (patriarch). James died in August, 1965 at Kansas City, Missouri.

Vida and James were interred at Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence, Missouri.
