BIOGRAPHY ~ THE CLYDE F. COOPER FAMILY

Clyde Franklin Cooper was born August 11, 1882, near Hopeville in Union County, Iowa, and died November 28, 1972. He was the son of Phillip and Cora (Leas) Cooper. On June 17, 1903, Clyde married Addie Ethel Foland.

Addie was born February 24, 1888, in Decatur County and died February 15, 1931. She was the daughter of John Valentine and Menerva (Hopkins) Foland.

Clyde and Addie were married by the Justice of the Peace, Marion Brammer, northeast of Grand River. They went west in a covered wagon and homesteaded in Greeley County, Kansas, where they lived in a dug-out and sod house.

Three children were born there: Orpha Irene Scadden on August 25, 1905; Opha Leveta Edwards on September 8, 1907 and Clell Foland on May 13, 1911.

They returned to Iowa in 1912 and bought a farm northeast of Grand River where two more children were born: Cloris Vivian Taylor on August 26, 1913, and Doris Arlene Lamb on October 20, 1916.

Clyde and Addie then returned to Western Kansas in 1917 and lived in the sod house on the old homestead for one year. They returned to Iowa and lived in and around Grand River the remainder of their lives.

In 1939 he married 2nd, Mrs. Nellie (Robbins) Delong, daughter of Orris and Rachel (Schrader) Robins, born December 25, 1884 and died October 14, 1980.

Clyde was a fur buyer for many years. He operated a produce and feed store for several years in Grand River.

NOTE: Addie, Clyde were interred at Grand River Cemetery, Grand River, Iowa.

Orpha Irene (Cooper) Scadden died in 2000. She married Herbert F. Scadden, born in 1902, and died in 1973. They were interred at Van Wert Cemetery, Van Wert, Iowa.

Opha Leveta (Cooper) Edwards died in 1998. She married Shannon C. Edwards, born in 1903, and died on 1999. They were interred at Van Wert Cemetery, Van Wert, Iowa.

Clell Foland Cooper died in 1998 and was interred at Memorial Park Cemetery, Muscatine, Iowa.

Cloris Vivian (Cooper) Taylor married Wellington Arthial "Well" Taylor on April 10, 1936. Cloris died January 4, 2005. Well was born April 10, 1911, and died July 20, 1988. They were interred at Grand River Cemetery.

Doris Arlene Cooper married on October 20, 1934 to Carl Albert Lamb.
