A. G. BUFFON (sic should be BUFFUM), retired farmer, lives on Section 11, Garden Grove Township, where he owns 320 acres of land. He was born in Rhode Island, in 1809, son of RICHARD and MARY (BATTY) BUFFON (sic), who lived and died in New York. Mr. BUFFON (sic) was reared on a farm and assisted in running a saw and grist-mill. He has been twice married. The first time he was married in New York, in 1836, to MARY LOVE, who died in 1870, leaving four children – LEROY L., HEPSA A., wife of J. OSCAR WALTER; ERWIN S. and CHARLES A. In 1874 Mr. BUFFON (sic) was married in Decatur County, to Mrs. SARAH (MACY) KINDEL. She has three children – WILLIAM, JOSPEH and ESTHER, wife of EUGENE ALEXANDER. Mr. BUFFON (sic) has held the office of justice of the peace several years, and was postmaster ten years. Himself and wife are members of the Presbyterian church. He came to Decatur County in 1863.
