William Briner (1841-1918) first married Martisia Brammer. After her death in 1869, he married Sarah McConnell (1848-1933). The Briner farm was two miles northeast of Grand River. William gave land off his farm for the Pleasant Valley Church.

They had ten children. The six who lived to adulthood were Evelyn (1873-1950) married Bill Allen; Samuel (1875-1962); Jasper (1879-1917) married Della Metz; Ellis Sylvester (1882-1927) married Goldie McKee; Ollie (1886-1949) married George Foland; Ella (1888-1971) married Earl Deao; and Mary (1891-1960) married Grover Crees.

Samuel E. Briner married Edna Bartholow (1878-1955) on Dec. 20, 1900. Her parents were Eli and Catherine (Bazer) Bartholow. Sam and Edna were the parents of five children. They were Clarence (1903-1918); Neva, 1904; Burl, 1908; Katherine, 1909; and Lloyd, 1915.

Neva married Everett Grimm on Nov. 28, 1923. Their children are Alma, Erma and Lowell. Burl married Violet Grimm on June 16, 1926. Their children are Alverta, Richard, Joquetta, Earl, Tyrone, Vance, Candell, Claudette, Pamela, Greg and Debra. Katherine (Katy) married James DeBusk on Dec. 14, 1927. Their children are James Jr., Robert, Deloris and Sammy. Lloyd married Wilma Houser on May 11, 1932. Their children are Lavone, Eugene and Jack. Lloyd and Wilma both worked for the school over twenty years, he as custodian and she as a cook.
