Cecil Steele

Cecil Steele died Friday morning, February 4, 1983, at the Davis County Hospital, Bloomfield, Iowa. His health had failed rapidly following the death of his wife, Anna, December 10, 1982. Cecil had lived all his 89 years in Davis County, Iowa. He was born January 6, 1894, on the old home place where he lived until 1946, when he and Anna moved to the Troy community. Cecil and Anna were married February 5, 1914. They were the parents of two children, Maxine Porter of near Troy, and one son Larry Steele, who preceded him in death. In 1969, Anna and Cecil retired to Pulaski.

Cecil loved the land and farmed all his working days. His greatest recreation, which he gladly shared with friends and family, was fishing and playing cards. His thoughtfulness and his loving concern will be greatly missed by his family.

Preceding Cecil in death were his wife, parents, one brother, two sisters, one son and one grandson.

Those surviving, who will greatly mourn his death, are one daughter, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, along with a daughter-in-law, Mary Steele, of Eldridge, Iowa.

The family has asked that a memorial in Cecil's name be established to the Heart Fund.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Charles Harris at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Iowa, on Sunday, February 6, 1983. Interment in the Troy Cemetery, Troy, Iowa. Casket bearers, Wendell Wilcox, Phillip Herteen, Laddie Archer, Charles Armstrong, Walter Morton, and Phillip Archer.
