REUBEN THEODORE CARLSON 1898 - 1968

Rueben Theodore Carlson was born 11 April 1898 to Carl A. and Albertina Anderson Carlson on the home farm south of Arthur and passed away at the Horn Memorial hospital, Friday evening, 29 March 1968 at the age of 69 years, 11 months and 19 days.

He was united in marriage 23 November 1958 at Minneapolis, Minnesota to Esther Bergstrand. They made their home on the farm homestead south of Arthur where Reuben spent his entire life.

He accepted the Lord as his Savior at the age of 20 and was a faithful member of the Arthur Evangelical Free Church where he had served as treasurer for many years and also as trustee.

He was preceded in his home going by his father and mother, three sisters, Selma, Ellen and Mable and four brothers, Oscar, Roy, Paul and Elmer.

Left to mourn is his loving wife, Esther, two brothers, G. A. Carlson of Ida Grove and Emil of Arthur, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

The funeral service was held at the Arthur Free church at 2 p.m. Monday, 1 April 1968 with Rev. John Aiken officiating. Pastor Ritchie Peterson of the Arthur Baptist church led in the reading of scripture and prayer.

James Linman was soloist with Helen McGee accompanying. He sang, "Ivory palaces" and "Children of the Heavenly Father" with the congregation singing "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder."

The attendants were Paul Lindgren, LaVerne Rydberg, Carl Sonichsen, Arthur Palm, Ricky Kluver and Robert McMullen.

He was laid to rest in the Hayes Township cemetery.

Just beyond the vale of sorrow
He has found a golden shore.
And life’s angry billows tossing,
Shall disturb his soul no more.
