BURIAL LAST FRIDAY

Kiron and community was greatly shocked last Tuesday when it was learned that Mrs. Bert Loomer had passed away at the Odebolt hospital where she had been a patient for several weeks. Her health had been very poor for the past two years and although there was little or no hopes for her recovery it was not thought that the end would come so soon. The family were making preparation for her coming home on the following day, as it was stated by the physicians that no help was available. But the end came very suddenly, with none of her family with her. During her prolonged sickness she has been a patient sufferer, ever hoping that she might again regain her health and remain longer with her loved ones, but prepared and willing to go to her heavenly home if it were her Master's will.

Edna Cornelia Burkwall Loomer was born at Assaria, Kansas, 31 Dec 1886 and passed away 2 October 1928, being at the time of her death 41 years, 9 months, and 2 days old. She came to Kiron about twelve years ago to care for the family of her deceased sister, Mrs. Sundberg and since that time this has been her home.

She was united in marriage to Bert Loomer 18 Oct 1921 and has been a faithful wife and a loving and sacrificing mother to the three step children who sill miss her care and devotion as they would that of an own mother. The children are Glennard, 16, Gladys 14, and Goldie 9 years of age. There are also two living sisters, Mrs. Andrew Anderson of Wheaton, Minn. and Mrs. Algot Johnson of Smaland, Kansas and two brothers, H. O. Burkwall a missionary in the foreign fields of Canton, China and Anton Burkwall of Los Angeles, California, besides a large number of more distant relatives and many friends.

Mrs. Loomer lived a beautiful Christian life and did many kind deeds in time of need. It is well remembered how many she helped out during the flu epidemic as well as many others at other times. Besides her beautiful home life she was an active member of the Mission church and aid society where her loss will be felt.

The remains were brought to the home south of town on the same evening of her death and the last services were held on Friday afternoon, at 1:30 at the home and at 2 at the Mission church conducted by her pastor, H. E. Sodergren.

There was special singing and music and the floral offering was beautiful, thus speaking of the love for the departed and the sympathy for the bereft family. The body was laid to rest in the Kiron cemetery.

Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Algot Johnson and daughter Ruby of Smaland, Kansas , Mrs. Andrew Anderson and two daughters from Wheaton, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Anderson from Beresford, S.D. and Gust Sanders of Lanyon.
