The entire community was grieved Wednesday evening when the sad news was spread that Mrs. Clarence Clauson had passed away at 6:20 at her home following a short illness. She had two weeks previous suffered from boils in her nose. Complications set in which resulted in cerebral meningitis. All that was humanely possibly was done for her but of no avail and on Tuesday afternoon hopes were given up for her recovery. Her folks from Colorado and Oklahoma were notified but reached here two hours after she had passed away.

Mrs. Bessie Pearl Clauson was the daughter of David D. and Sarah J. Bruce. She was born at Leedy, Oklahoma on September 23, 1901. She grew up into young womanhood residing at various places in Oklahoma. She came to Denison and to this locality when about twenty years old and while in this locality she met Mr. Clauson. This friendship culminated into a romance. They were united in marriage September 1, 1924 after which they farmed in Stockholm township until about 4 years ago, when the family moved to Kiron which was her home until the time of her death. She had reached the age of 34 years, 3 months, and 15 days.

Mrs. Clauson was a fine Christian character, a good mother and a loyal wife. She possessed a quiet and calm nature, was always pleasant to meet and was loved by all who knew her. Her highest aim was to do what she could for those about her and anyone in need. Her neighbors wherever she resided speak highly of her.

She was converted and joined the Baptist church at Weatherford, Oklahoma, when about 16 years of age and became affiliated with the Baptist church at Kiron in the spring of 1935, where she was a faithful member. She was also a member of the Phileathea class where she regularly attended having also served in several offices in that class.

Bruce of Weatherford, Oklahoma, two sisters, Mrs. Pansy Foster of Simla, Colorado and Mrs. Goldie Compton of Dallas, Texas and one brother, Clyde Bruce of Calahan, Colorado, besides many other close relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock from the home and 1:30 o'clock from the Baptist church with Rev. E. J. Nordlander officiating and Rev. H. A. Faugerstrom assisting. The church was packed with relatives and friends who came to pay their last respects to this beloved woman. A quartette composed of Jubel and Paul Hedstrom, Harry and Bert Lindstrom sang "No Night There" and a trio composed of Mrs. W. A. Garner, Harry and Bert Lindstrom sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus."
