Elwood Gustaf Anderson was born to Mr. and Mrs. Gustaf Anderson in Odebolt on 20 Oct. 1885. After a lingering illness he passed away on 24 March 1953 at the age of 67 years 5 months and 4 days.

He was united in marriage to Edith Flodine on 16 January 1910 and they moved to their new home in Boyer where they spent their entire married life. To this union were born 8 children, LeRoy of Houston, Texas; Roland of Boyer; Lawrence of largo, Florida; and Wayne of Kiron; Carroll of Ella, Wisconsin; and Emma at home. Adeline and Jane passed away in infancy. He had three brothers, David of Kiron, Joseph of Odebolt, Paul of Boyer; also 3 sisters, Anna (Mrs. Henry Brown) of Albert City; Hilma (Mrs. Oscar Peterson) of Odebolt, and Tillie (Deceased). He also leaves to mourn his passing 13 grandchildren, many relatives and a host of friends.

He became a Christian in his youth and served faithfully in his support of Christian work.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Kiron on Friday 2:00 p.m. March 1953 officiating were Rev. Joseph S. Palmer and Rev. Orville Johnson. Hymns that were sung were "Looking this Way", "Beautiful Beckoning Hands", and "Eastern Gate",. They were sung by a duet: Mr. and Mrs. James Linman and Solo by Mrs. Pearl Palmer. Mrs. Elmer Wilson, Organist. Pallbearers were Wallace Johnson, Clifford Cautrell, James Sewell, Reuben Carlson, Carl Hedum and Nick Kahler. Interment was in the Kiron Cemetery.

Relatives from a distance were Rev. and Mrs. Carroll Anderson and Janet of Ella, Wisconsin: LeRoy Andersen of Houston, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Vernall Dahleen and Mrs. Fred Frahm of Des Moines; Mrs. Anna Brown and Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Brown of Albert City; Mr. and Mrs. Williard Brown of Storm Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Johnson and Phyllis and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Johnson of Rembrant, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Johnson of Sac City and many other relatives and friends from Denison, Ida Grove, Arthur, Kiron and Odebolt and Boyer and Wall Lake.
