SPRINFIELD, Mo. — Robert B. “Bob” Frett, age 77, passed away February 7, 2009, at home surrounded by his loving family after a short but courageous battle with lung cancer and complications of cardiac disease and diabetes. He was born in Clinton, Iowa, on January 14, 1932, to August and Veronica Frett. He lived his early years in Clinton where he began a lifelong career as an expert automobile mechanic. He was known as one of the best wherever he worked. He loved his family and enjoyed his time as a father and grandfather and instilled in them his ability to live life to the fullest. He was always able to make people laugh, loved to tell jokes and loved to travel.He is survived by his wife, Amy Gash Frett, of the home; a daughter, Susan Newby and her husband, Gene, of Mansfield, Mo., and their children, Kevin, James and Lacie, all of Mansfield and Nixa, Mo.; a son, Tim Frett and his wife, Callie, of Mount Pleasant, Utah, and his children, Kyle of Las Vegas and Ken of Denver; a daughter, Sandy McBride and her husband, Fred, their children, Jed and Mindy, all of Price, Utah; and a son, Jason Frett and his two daughters, Jessica and Skyeler of Springfield, Mo.; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Marie Salutz-Conery and Teresa Dullum of Mesa, Arizona; brothers, Clarence Frett of Marion, Iowa, Raymond Frett of Atkins, Iowa, Leo Frett of Moline, Illinois, and Arthur Frett of Clinton, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Veronica Frett; brothers, Francis Frett, Vincent Frett, Edward Frett, and the baby, August Jr.; sisters, Alice Kutz, Joan Forbish and Lucille Mallinger.Memorial services will be held on February 12, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, Springfield, Mo. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to FSIG, Fabry Support and Information Group, Box 510, Concordia, MO 64020, to fight the ‘dragon’ of Fabry Disease.Death date: Feb. 7, 2009
