CLINTON — Sylvester Theodore Richter, 92, of Clinton, Iowa, died December 27, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center North.Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Lemke Funeral Homes, South Chapel with Father Tony Herold officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, from 5 - 7 p.m. at Lemke Funeral Homes, South Chapel.Memorials will be established by the family.He was born March 22, 1916, in Sykeston, North Dakota, to Edward and Mary (Becker) Richter.He was educated in Sykeston schools, Sykeston, North Dakota.He married Laura Spitzer on November 25, 1941, in Sykeston, North Dakota. She died April 4, 1996.He was a farmer in North Dakota until 1954. He was the owner/operator of Sterling motel for 11 years and was a contractor for the remainder of his life.He was a member of the Moose Club, Eagles Club and Carpenters Union.Survivors include: Mary Lou (Joe) Clegg, Houston, TX; James E. Richter, Clinton; Dennis D. (Patricia) Richter, Clinton; forever friend, Alice Queckboerner; brother, Norbert Richter, Sykeston, ND; three sisters-in-law, Leona Richter, Sykeston, ND, Alma Richter, Carrington, ND, Fritz Richter, Carrington, ND; 7 grandchildren; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura; one daughter, Elaine Hussung; parents; five brothers; and two granddaughters.To send online condolences go to www.lemkefh.com.Death date: Dec. 27, 2008
