SOUTH BELOIT, Ill. — Alice F. Gifford, age 96, of South Beloit, IL, formerly of Clinton, IA, died Thursday Dec. 25, 2008, at Fair Oaks Health Care Center in South Beloit. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday Jan. 3, 2009, at the Pape Funeral Home in Clinton. Visitation will be held Saturday 10:00 a.m. until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Clinton. Memorials may be given to York Community Church in Thomson, IL. Alice was born on Sept. 21, 1912, in Savanna, IL, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Sagner) Lohmeier. She graduated from Thomson High School in Thomson, IL, in 1930 and attended Clinton Business College in Clinton. She married Leonard Gifford on June 16, 1934, in Ottawa, IL; he died in 1981. She worked at Armour’s Meat Company in the sales department for many years, retiring in 1968. Alice and her husband lived in Peoria, IL, for many years before moving to Clinton in 1980 after Leonard’s retirement. Alice is survived by her special nieces and nephews, Connie Chase and Donna Gool of Clinton, Jill Lohmeier Koch of Wausau, WI, George Lohmeier, Indianapolis, IN, Kevin Lohmeier, Roscoe, IL, Jeffrey Lohmeier, Marysville, WA, Marilyn Lohmeier Ward of Fenton, MI, Michael Makela and Wendy Van Kuyk. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, George Lohmeier, Frank Lohmeier, Carl Lohmeier; and 3 sisters, Josephine Jacobsen, Ester Lohmeier, Grace Lohmeier.
