ANDREW — Thelma C. Horan, 95, of Andrew, Iowa, died Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at Jackson County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa, following a lengthy illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 29, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook, with the Rev. Paul Lippstock officiating. Burial will be in the Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springbrook, Iowa. The family will receive friends and family from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa, where a vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Thelma was born August 30, 1913, in Green Island, Iowa, daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Oberman) Mangler. She graduated from Bellevue High School in 1932. She married Harry Horan in August of 1935 in Galena, Illinois. He died on January 20, 1978. She was a homemaker and worked with her husband on the farm. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, sewing and quilting in her early years. She is survived by one son, Ronald (Mary) Horan and one daughter, Marcella “Sally” Rowan, both of Andrew; 9 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Madeline Hingtgen of La Motte. She was also preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, John in 1937, and a grandson in 1993. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.laheys.com.Death date: Dec. 23, 2008
