The Clinton Herald Saturday September 5, 1992 p. 16 A Masonic Rose Croix service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Congregational Church for Alex Adler, 83, of 2714 N. 2nd St., who died Thursday in Bluff Terrace. Paul Eastland will conduct the Masonic service. A memorial service will immediately follow at the church with the Rev. Robert Hamilton officiation. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. A private family graveside service will be 11 a.m. today in Oakland Cemetery with Rev. Hamilton officiating. Cannon Funeral Home is in charge arrangements. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Goos, Tom Hanifan, Burdette Anderson, Ben Tietjens, Dan Kramer and Arlo Petersen. Mr. Adler was born Dec. 1, 1908, in Campbell, Neb., to Peter and Alice Rieber Adler. He married Phyllis Paup, June 16, 1938, in Ashton, Iowa. He attended the Nebraska schools and was a high school graduate. He was a Standard Oil dealer at Main Avenue and North Second Street in Clinton for 30 years. He was a charter member of the Lyons Share Stamp Plan, a past president and member for 29 years of the Lyons Retail Bureau, a member of Lyons Civic Club for 30 years and a member of First Congregational Church, Western Star No. 100 Masonic Lodge, Kaaba Shrine, Shrine Sternwheelers of Jackson County, and was a member and past president of the Hi-12 Club. He enjoyed traveling and his many friends. Survivors include his wife, a son, Dan of Rockford, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Terry Marcia Friedman of Oswego, Ill.; four grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Herman (Clara) Lutkimer, Mrs. August (Lucille) Lutkimer and Mrs. Arnold (Luella) Laugenberg, all Hastings, Neb. He was preceded in death by a sister. Death date: Sept. 3, 1992.
