Obituary
Carroll D. Flathers, 94, of De Witt, Iowa, passed away Friday, December 25, 2020, at Westwing Place, De Witt.

Carroll Duane Flathers was born January 19, 1926, in Delmar, Iowa, to Joseph Howard and Johanna Marie (Gohlmann) Flathers. He married Louise Jochimsen on February 19, 1950. She preceded him in death on November 7, 1982. Carroll farmed, did custom chopping for farmers, hauled livestock, drove school bus for Welton schools, and was substitute custodian for the Central School district in DeWitt. He married Roberta Blocker in 1994, she preceded him in death in 2004.

Carroll was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt, where he served as an Elder for many years. He was also a member of F.F.A. alumni of Iowa. He was a 4-H member in his youth and enjoyed watching his family show at the county fairs throughout his life. He enjoyed taking his wagon and ponies to parades and nursing homes.

Survivors include sons, Dean of Maquoketa, Duane of Kentucky, and Kurt (Colleen) of Clinton and daughters, Jean (Marvin) Grager of Clinton, and Ardith (Carl) Hamilton of Bryant; grandchildren, Jennifer Robinson, Justin Grager, Travis Grager, Sarah Flathers, Zachery Hamilton, Austin Hamilton, and Kristen Flathers; 5 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

In addition to his two wives, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeffery Flathers, and his brother, Donald.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt from 10:00 a.m. until the service time of 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2020, at Grace Lutheran Church, DeWitt with the Rev. Eric Obermann officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, Bliedorn.
