DIED - At McGregor, on Friday last, Hattie, aged 2 years, 4 months and 16 days, daughter of Liberty and Mary E. Bowen.

Her funeral was preached to a large audience on Saturday, by Rev. Mr. Brown of the M.E. Church.

Little Hattie - beautiful girl - got by accident a vial of laudanum, and in the innocence of childhood, she drank so largely of it as to cause her death. Words are poor consolation for such parental affliction; hence we omit them. The hearts of all feel for the parents.

~North Iowa Times, Wednesday, December 18, 1867; pg 2

Note: Hattie is very likely buried in Pleasant Grove cemetery
