Elkader Register, 30 Aug. 1895.

We learn that Uncle Michael Stence died at his home near McGregor, Wednesday, and the funeral will be held at 10 a.m. this (Friday) morning. We are without particulars but know that the old gentleman was among the first settlers of Boardman twp., moving to McGregor about two years ago. He was thought to be about 95 years of age.

This may be Michael Stence, one of Emma Eastman's husbands, who is buried in the Eastman cemetery. There are several websites, including FindaGrave, giving his DOD in 1885. If the above death notice is for Emma Eastman's husband, then he didn't die until 1895.
