Elkader Register, 22 Nov. 1894.

Samantha N. MacKellar, wife of Peter MacKellar, died at her residence in Highland twp. Oct. 31, 1894. Samantha N. Moore was born in Ashland county, Ohio, Jan. 16, 1844, and came to Iowa in 1844. April 3d, 1862, she was united in marriage to Peter MacKellar. The fruit of this union, four sons, Dr. O. W. MacKellar, of Chicago, Lawrence W., Milo M., John D, and Hatti E., survive her, together with the grief stricken husband. As a universal favorite, she will be mourned and missed by the entire community. Rev. T. P. Griffith, of West Union, conducted the funeral services.
