Ash, Maude & May died 1893

Elkader Register, 14 Sept. 1893.

GONE.

A few months ago we wrote a few lines on the death of May Ash, a bright and promising pupil of our school. We are now called upon to mourn the loss of Maude Ash, who has gone to be with her dear cousin May.

(Note: There followed a many stanza poem that was left untranscribed.)

May Ash, d/o James & Margaret (Whitman) Ash, died Jan 17, 1893, age 13y. She has a gravestone in the Edgewood cemetery, Delaware co. IA. She was enumerated living with her parents in Elk twp., Clayton co. on the 1885 Iowa State census.

Maud V. Ash, d/o George & Barbara (Whitman) Ash, also has a gravestone in the Edgewood cemetery. The dates on her stone: 1879-1893. She was enumerated living with her parents in Elk twp., Clayton co. on the 1885 Iowa State census.
