Charles W. Beckman died at his home in this village at 10:00 p.m. on July 5th as a result of a stroke suffered six weeks ago.

He was born Feb. 4, 1881 at Little Port, Iowa where he attended grade school and worked on the home farm until the age of 18 when he took up railroad work.

He was married to Augusta Sotebeer at Waseca and they took up their residence at Owatonna, later moving to Claremont where he was employed on the section.

He froze his feet while at this work a few years ago, and this coupled with a heart condition incapacitated him for this work and he was retired on a pension.

Mr. Beckman is survived by his widow, and three children, Harold of this village, Mrs. C.P. Calvert of Peoria, Ill. and Mrs. Fern Ellis of Owatonna.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at the DeGroat funeral home in Owatonna in charge of Rev. Ackermann, with interment in the Lutheran cemetery. The pall bearers were: Carl Wilker, Carl Lundgren, Herman Marik and Frank Orlowsik.

From a distance to attend the final services were: Wm. Beckman of Olymphia, Wash., Mrs. R.W. Allbright of Rapid City, S.D., Fred Beckman of Little Port, Iowa and Louis Beckman of Dubuque, Iowa.
