Lydia J. Scofield, wife of Harmon H. Scofield, died at her home in Strawberry Point, Sunday, March 08th, 1891. Mrs. Scofield was born Sept. 29, 1825, in Ontario county, N.Y. At 16 years of age her parents moved to Cattaraugus county, N.Y., where her mother died leaving her as the oldest of a family of eight children. Thus she early assumed the care of a household. Nov. 21, 1852, she was married to Harmon H. Scofield and in 1865 they moved to Strawberry Point, which has since been their home. They had two children, Miss Nora Scofield, and a son who died some 13 years ago. Soon after her marriage she was converted and united with the Baptist church in Cattaraugus county, N.Y. - Press.
