DIED - At his residence in Farmersburg, Clayton Co., Iowa, January 1st, 1867, of Consumption and the debility which age brings with it, Jared Watkins, aged 71 years and 4 months.

The deceased was an old settler of the county; a most estimable citizen; a warm friend, as the writer of this well remembers.

We are not furnished with the necessary notes of Mr. W's history - if we were, something more than this brief notice would bear witness to his worth and our appreciation of his friendship.

Note: Burial is in the National cemetery
