Elkader Weekly Register, 24 Mar. 1887.

At his home in Highland township, shortly after midnight of March 22nd, occurred the death of John Mcloughlin, Sr., at the advanced age of 74 years.

Deceased was a native of county Mayo, Ireland, but came to the United States about 38 years ago, first locating in Illinois. About 31 years since he came to Clayton county, and located on the farm in Highland township where he lived until the time of his death. It was only a little over a week ago that his faithful and loving wife died and was laid to her long sleep in the Catholic cemetery, and now he has gone to join her in that blessed land where there are no more partings. The funeral will occur from the Catholic church to-day at 11 o'clock. May he rest in peace.
