TRANSCRIBER: (Not Related)Arvin Gerhard Koopman, age 84, of Dalton, Wisconsin passed away on Wednesday, December 4,2024 at the Marshfield Medical Center, Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. Funeral services were held on December 10, 2024 in Beaver Dam and burial followed the services at the Greenwood Cemetery in Kingston, Wisconsin.
Arvin was born at West Fork Township, Franklin County, Iowa on October 29, 1940, the son of Gerhardt and Ellen (Krambeer) Koopman. At the age 4, Arvin's parents moved the family back to Grand Meadow Township in Clayton County, Iowa to farm. Arvin attended country school and later graduated from the Postville High School in Postville, Iowa.
He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, being honorably discharged after four years. On September 16, 1962, he was united in marriage to Judith Mae "Judy" Schnuelle at the Lutheran Church in Castalia, Iowa. Since 1973 Arvin owned and operated Pro-Type buildings which
was a business where many steel storage type buildings were built for farmers, commercial businesses, or residential purposes in the area. Arvin enjoyed watching old western movies. He also liked sports being an avid Packers fan and never missed a Milwaukee Brewers game. Most of all he loved his family and especially enjoyed talking about his grandchildren.Arvin is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Judy; three children Bart (Dawn) Koopman, Douglas Koopman, and Kim (Jim Schade) Koopman; seven grandchildren Alex (Jamie) Koopman, Andrew Koopman, Aaron (Jamie) Koopman, Brianna (Tyrese) Pinson, Kendra (Luke Figol) Meier, Bowen Meier, and Katelyn Meier; two great-grandchildren Baylor and Charli; his sister Cora Hansen in addition to nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss him very much.
Arvin was preceded in death by his parents; his son Grant Koopman who died in a car accident at the age of 19; his siblings and spouses Louis Koopman, Lois (John) Wahls, Geraldine (Dale) Schroeder,James Koopman, Dixie (Ed) Koch, and Dean who died at the age of 11 after he sustained 3rd degree burns on his body after he accidentally fell into a bonfire while playing; Arvin's brothers-in-law Ed, Raymond, Donald, Allan, and Clinton Schnuelle.
