Stiefel, Lizzie died 1885

Clayton County Journal, 14 Jan. 1885. East Elkport column.

Lizzie, five year old daughter of Christ. Steifle, died Monday morning, Jan. 12th. Disease, diphtheria.

Note: correct surname spelling is STIEFEL

The following death notice was in a latter issue, but although it says the Stiefel's lost a 5 y/o son, I believe it actually refers to their daughter Lizzie who died in January. The 1880 census does not show a son and neither Christian or his wife Marie's obits mention a son.

There have been several cases of diphtheria in this neighborhood of late. A five year old son of Chris Stiefiel died. Mr. S., has two children sick with it yet.
