Elkader Register, 23 Dec. 1881.

Henry L. Schuette, a resident of Garnavillo, and one of the pioneers of Clayton county, died on last Friday, after a short illness.

Mr. S. was born in Hanover, Germany, in 1832, and located at Garnavillo in 1850.

He leaves a wife and two grown children to mourn the loss of a devoted husband and a kind father. He was a member of the Masonic, Odd Fellow, and United Workman orders, and was buried on last Sunday by the Masons, the other orders participating.
