Elkader Register, 21 Dec. 1883.

On Wednesday night occurred the death of a 19 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Steen, of this township, of consumption. The afflicted parents will have the sympathy of a large circle of friends in their sad bereavement. The funeral occurs this morning at 11 o'clock, her remains being laid away to their final rest in the cemetery in Communia.

Note: Her gravestone in the Communia cemetery names her as Elizabeth Steen, 8/30/1864 - 12/19/1883
