Elkader Register, 21 Dec. 1883.

Elder Shaffer, formerly located in Highland township, this county, died very suddenly on the 12th inst. He was on his way home from Lima, Fayette county, where he had been preaching, and was stricken down with apoplexy. At the time of his death he was residing at Brush Creek.
