Our social circle has again been broken by the hand of death, and Jennie, wife of G. W. Kennedy, has been laid "beneath the low green tent, whose curtain never outward swings." Mrs. Kennedy had been sick about six weeks, but not considered dangerous until about a week before her death. Everything that medical skill and the attention of kind friends and neighbors could do, was done to avert this blow, but it came, and on the morning of July 3d she passed quietly away. Her mother and sister arrived from New Jersey (her former home) just one week before her death, and it was a great consolation to them to be with her in her last moments. Mrs. Kennedy was about 39 years old, and leaves a husband and three young children to mourn their irreparable loss. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community. The funeral services were held at the Congregational church on the afternoon of the 4th, and Rev. Mr. Downs preached a very excellent sermon to the large audience who assembled to pay the last sad tribute to a neighbor and friend.

Note: She likely is buried in either the Old Garnavillo cemetery, or the Garnavillo Community cemetery - although a gravestone is extant in either. 'Garnavillo, Gem of the Prairie', pg 86, states George W. Kennedy was from Morris Co., NJ ... his wife Rebecca J. Kennedy ... who died 1878
