Elkader Register, 20 Feb. 1879.

Joseph Schrunk died at his home, about 5 miles from Colesburg, in Mallory township on Wednesday, Feb. 12th, aged 79 years, less two days.

Mr. Schrunk, was born in Offenan, in the kingdom of Wurtenberg. He emigrated to this country in 18__ (looks like 1854 or 1864), while on the journey his wife died. He leaves seven daughters and two sons, all grown. Four of the daughters are in California, one in Minnesota and two in Clayton county. The boys are both residents of Clayton county. He was a sober, industrious man, and leaves many friends to mourn his loss.
