Funeral services were held for Orville Carl Joseph Reimer, 76, Elkader, on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1987, at Peace United Church of Christ with burial at East Side Cemetery, Elkader. Rev. Lance A. Bentley officiated.

Honorary bearers were John Wahls, John Storbeck, Ronald Gottschalk and Robert White. Casket bearers were Louis Matt III, Henry 'Red' Possehl, Ronald Bossard, Roy Cords, Alvin Bahls and Irving Leonard.

He was born December 24, 1910 in Volga Township of Clayton County, Iowa, to Herman and Marie (Kuehl) and received his education in rural Clayton County schools, also attending Elkader High School. He was baptized and confirmed and had been a life time member of Peace United Church of Christ.

On December 24, 1934 he was united in marriage to Beulah Oldham. To this union three children were born: Gerald, Doris and Corene.

Orville purchased a farm between Garnavillo and Elkader in 1938 where he farmed until 1942 when he moved to Elkader. He was employed in various occupations: worked for Barton's Stock Yard, the Elkader Sales Barn, and was self employed in the trucking business. Orville was the developer of the Reimer housing addition and the Elkader Care Center.

He has been in partnership with his son Gerald in farming until the time of his death which occurred Saturday afternoon, Sept. 19, 1987.

Survivors include his wife, Beulah; a son, Gerald, Elkader; two daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Doris) Dryer, Guttenberg and Mrs. William (Corene) Burke, Elkader; eight grandchildren: Dixie Enderton, Julie Rosenthal, Connie Benion, Ken Dryer, Cindy Mueller, Lisa Moose, and Angela and Andrew Larson; nine great-grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Marie Reimer of Elkader; two brothers: Haldon, Garnavillo and Melvin, Cedar Falls; and two sisters: Mrs. Maurice (Laurine) Larson and Mrs. Harry (Catherine) Larson, both of Elkader.

He was preceded in death by his father and brother Clarence.
