Miss Sarah Refle died at 2:00 a.m., Monday, October 11, at her home in Dubuque, after an illness of about a month. Miss Refle was born November 19, 1894 at Littleport, a daughter of Joseph and Lena Stemmer Refle. She made her home at Littleport until 1938, when she moved to Dubuque. She was employed for eight years in Clark college tea room, she was a charter member of Hope Lutheran church here and an active member of St. Peter's Lutheran church in Dubuque.
Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Henry (Flossie) Gisleson of Luana, four brothers, William, Harry and Walter on the home farm near Littleport, and George of Dubuque, and several nieces and nephews.
Services were conducted in Dubuque at 12:30 Wednesday, and at 1:30 in Hope Lutheran church in Littleport. The Rev. E. Harold Kettner and the Rev. F. W. Tillmanns officiated at the services. Burial was in the family lot in Union cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mrs. James (Josephine) Brink.
Pallbearers were: George Chettinger, Ray Hughes, Donald Liddy, Delores Thein, Raymond Ruegnitz and Carl Dahling.
