Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, from the Witt funeral chapel, for Mrs. Mary McSperrin, 78, who died in a Manchester hospital Saturday, Oct. 16. She had been ill only two days from a heart condition. Burial was made in the East Side cemetery. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated.
Mrs. McSperrin was born Mary Waterman on December 22, 1875, at Elkport. She was educated in the Elkport public school and on January 04, 1899 she was married to Isaac McSperrin. The couple lived at Guttenberg for several years and then moved to Elkader in 1903. Her husband preceded her in 1944 and a son, Floyd, died in 1943.
Surviving are two brothers and four sisters: Charles Waterman of Elkader, Edward Waterman of Guttenberg, Mrs. Louis Kruse of Bettendorf, Mrs. Mary Tindell of Dubuque, Mrs. Laura Schnepf of Moline, Ill., and Miss Bertha Waterman of Rock Island, Ill.
Pallbearers were: Harry Schulte, Herman Fascher, Frank Wacker, Milton Wolf, Elmer Bandow and Lester Schulte. Besides her brothers and sisters, other relatives who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Somers of Pine River, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Russell Schroeder of Guttenberg, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Hansel and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Noack of Garber, and Mrs. Amanda McSperrin of Dubuque.
