GARNAVILLO: Funeral services were held here Thursday for Norbert Henning, 22, who was drowned about 5 o'clock Monday afternoon while boat riding in the Mississippi river near Harpers Ferry.

Henning was in his boat alone at the time of the accident. He was reported to have been driving his craft in a circle when he fell into the water about 15 feet from shore. The boat continued to circle so fast that companions in another boat were unable to go to his rescue. His body was not recovered until 8 o'clock.

Henning was born May 02, 1932 in Garnavillo township. He is survived by his stepfather and his mother, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Meyer. He also leaves a sister Doris. His father and one sister preceded him in death.
