Funeral services for Grace Tieden were held at the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church, Elkader, at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 29, 1954. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated. Burial was in the East Side cemetery.

Grace Tieden, age 61 years, 11 months and 29 days died August 26, 1954 at her country home in Cox Creek township. She had entered Mayo hospital, Rochester last January for examination and went back three months later for a check-up, but became seriously ill about six weeks ago.

Grace Fisher, the daughter of L. S. and Sophia Hesner Fisher, was born at Edgewood, Iowa, Augusst 27, 1892. She lived in Clayton county her entire life. She received her education in the Edgewood public school and also attended Upper Iowa university, Fayette, summer courses. She taught school until her marriage.

On September 29, 1915, she was united in marriage to Lewis Tieden at Elkader, Iowa, by the late Rev. C. H. Franke. Two children were born to this union: Arrah Lavon (Mrs. Clarence Polkow) and Dale at home. She was active in many church and civic affairs. She was a member of the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church and the Women's Guild, of which she served as secretary for several terms, also president of the Northeast Iowa Regional Women's Guild. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Royal Neighbors, Proteus club and the Communia Cemetery association.

Surviving are her husband, the two children, two grandchildren, and one brother, Fred Fisher of Edgewood.

Her parents preceded her in death, as did three brothers and three sisters.

Pallbearers were: Arthur J. Meyer, Elmer Bente, A. A. Schultz, Orlando Bailey, V. C. Wright and Elmer Moser.
