Mrs. Eunice Canute Strandjord died at the home of her son, Pastor Arne E. Strandjord, at Mt. Vernon, Wash., August 06, 1954. She was born at the Hedemarken parsonage, Rothsay, Minn., December 09, 1889. She was the daughter of Pastor Magne Langeland and of his wife Sigrid Peterson Langeland. She was baptized and confirmed by her father, in the Hedemarken church.
She was a graduate of Park Region Luther college. After graduation she assisted her father in teaching parochial school and other church activities.
On November 11, 1917 she was united in marriage, by her father, to Pastor S. J. Strandjord, at the Hedemarken church. After their marriage she moved to Grenora, N.Dak., where she rendered great assistance to her husband in the establishment and organization of mission congregations. At Grenora she visited every home where there were children and organized the first Lutheran Sunday school.
In 1922 together with her husband she moved to Park River, N.Dak., where once more she served God not only as a mother to her children but by assisting her husband in his parish work.
In 1929 Pastor and Mrs. Strandjord moved to St. Olaf. Here again she was vitally interested in the activities of every women's organization in the parish.
She leaves to mourn her departure her husband, Pastor S. J. Strandjord; one daughter, Miss Eunice Selma Strandjord, Minneapolis, Minn.; three sons, Dr. Nels Magne Strandjord, Virginia, Minn., Rolf Sigurd Strandjord, Moorhead, Minn.; and Pastor Arne Eugene Strandjord, Mt. Vernon, Wash.; one granddaughter and five grandsons; three sisters; Mrs. Anna Serkland, Rothsay, Minn, Mrs. Esther Amundson, Moose Lake, Minn., and Mrs. Ben (Ruth) Hudtloff, New Hampton, Iowa.
Her parents, one brother and one sister preceded her in death.
