STRAWBERRY POINT: Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Glass Weger, 83, were held at Emanuel Lutheran church in Strawberry Point on Monday afternoon, August 09. Services were conducted by the Rev. Alvin Fritschel of Preston, Minn., in the absence of the Rev. S. J. Meyer, who is on vacation. Burial was in the Strawberry Point cemetery.

Mrs. Weger was born on Sept. 18, 1870, at Fort Atkinson, Iowa, the daughter of Lorenz and Elizabeth Schram Glass. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was an active member of the Lutheran church and its organizations all her life. At an early age she came to Strawberry Point and on June 04, 1924 she became the wife of George Weger. The couple lived in Strawberry Point until the death of Mr. Weger about five years ago. She then made her home at the Lutheran home for the aged in Strawberry Point until about three weeks ago when she was taken to the Good Samaritan home at West Union. She had not been well for the past few years and on Friday she was taken to the Palmer Memorial hospital at West Union where she died shortly after noon on Saturday. Her death was due to cancer and complications of old age.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters. One brother, Philip Glass of Portland, Oregon, survives.
