Lucy Idella Pickering Barrows died after a lingering illness at the age of 85 years. She was born June 22, 1868, in Dunlap, Iowa, the eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Philip PIckering. She attended St. Francis school in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Michigan University at Ann Arbor, and Teachers college in Valparaiso, Ind. She taught in the public schools of Iowa for over 15 years.

In 1900, she was married to Edward H. Barrows of Storm Lake, Iowa.

She was a member of the Episcopal church, Order of the Eastern Star, White Shrine, Daughters of American Revolution, and Daughters of the British Empire.

She is survived by one sister, Miss Phyllis Edna Pickering of St. Petersburg, Fla., four children, Mrs. Katherine B. Tiedemann of Hillsdale, New Jersey, Mrs. Herbert C. Thoresen of Farmersburg, Iowa, Edward P. Barrows of St. Paul, Minn., Richard P. Barrows of Miami Shores, Fla., and four granddaughters.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 16, at 2:00 p.m. at the Schultz funeral home, with the Rev. R. H. Steege officiating. Burial was at F. W. cemetery.
