Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon for Mrs. Julia Gilje who died last Wednesday in (Next few words blurred.) Cedar Rapids where she had been for the last month. Services were conducted at 1:30 o'clock at the Witt funeral chapel with the Rev. David G. Howell of the Congregational Christian church and the Rev. Paul Kitterer of Peace Evangelical and Reformed church officiating.

From the funeral home services were continued at the Norway Lutheran church near St. Olaf, with the Rev. S. J. Strandjord, pastor, in charge. Interment was made in the Norway cemetery.

Mrs. Gilje was born January 19, 1881, on a farm near Elkader. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Embert Halstenson. In 1903 she was united in marriage to V. L. Gilje, who was Elkader postmaster for 18 years and who preceded his wife in death in 1944.

Surviving are: two sons, Dr. Louis of Elkader and Lorimer of St. Paul, Minn., and a daughter, Mrs. Frank Loufek of Cedar Rapids.
