The death of Ewald C. Becker, 77, occurred Monday at 9 p.m. at his home in Volga following a long illness, due to heart trouble.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 29, at the St. Paul Lutheran church with the Rev. William Gebhard, pastor, officiating at 2 p.m.
Burial will be in Hill Crest cemetery. The body was taken to the Gill funeral home in Strawberry Point and on Wednesday was brought to the Blake and Gill chapel in Volga.

The death of E. C. Becker, 77, occurred Monday, April 26, at 9:00 p.m. at his home in Volga, following an extended illness due to heart trouble.
Ewald Christian Becker, the eldest of twelve children of John and Charlotte Brabrandt Becker, was born July 22, 1876 in Clayton county. He attended the school in his community and on June 25, 1902 was united in marriage to Miss Lela C. Kuempel at Mederville. They farmed several years before moving to Volga, which has been their home the past 38 years. Mr. Becker was a carpenter for many years and operated a saw mill near his home while his health permitted him to.
He served as a member of the town council for a number of years and was active in civic affairs.
Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Harold (Dorothy) Lau of Guttenberg; two sons, Leo, at home and Val Becker, Weimer, Calif.; one grandson, Lee Becker, Weimer, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Hulda Osborne, Strawberry Point, and Mrs. Harry (Helen) Wood, San Gabriel, Calif.; two brothers, Carl F. Becker, Cedar Rapids, and John Becker of Maynard and many other relatives.
His parents, three sisters, four brothers and one grandson preceded him in death.
Services were held Thursday from the Blake and Gill chapel to St. Paul's Lutheran church at two o'clock. The pastor, Rev. William Gebhard officiated. Mrs. F. P. Gernand, church organist, accompanied Mrs. Ray Zwanziger and Mrs. Vernon Wilker, vocalists.
Those who served as pallbearers were: Will Christeleit, Wm. J. Wilker, Arthur Dittmer, Allen Robinson, Fred Rinkert and Harry Rinkert.
Mrs. Gernand and Mrs. C. A. Brandt had charge of the floral arrangement.
Burial was in Hill Crest cemetery.
