Clayton County Register, 22 Apr. 1954.
Funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock for Virgil Jentz, who died a suicide sometime earlier in the week. Burial was made in the Mt. Harmony cemetery south of Elkport.
Jentz, formerly from Wisconsin, had been living with his wife and daughter in a house southwest of Elkport. Sunday, April 11, he was reported missing but was not discovered until the following Wednesday afternoon, when Paul Peuker noticed a car parked behind a nearby barn. Investigating he found Jentz inside the car. The man had attached a vacuum cleaner hose to the exhaust pipe of the car to lead gases into the body of the vehicle.
Deputy Sheriff Milton Klink was called to the scene and he in turn notified the coroner who pronounced the case suicide. Jentz leaves his wife, who is a daughter of C. C. Waterman, of Elkport, and a three-year old daughter.
