Adolph H. Krieg died at his home in Strawberry Point on Wednesday evening, March 24, at the age of 74 years Although Mr. Krieg was a victim of leukemia for the past five years, he enjoyed fairly good health up until two months ago. He was bedfast from then until his death.
Adolph Henry Krieg was born on April 20, 1879, the son of Henry and Louisa Krieg, in Cox Creek township, Clayton county. He received his education in rural schools of this county.
On June 06, 1908 he was united in marriage with Bertha Warnicke at the home of the bride's parents near Littleport. Mr. and Mrs. Krieg started farming on what was known as the Henry Brust farm, and this was their home up until 1949, when they retired and moved to the Three Corners near Elkader. In November, 1951 they moved to Strawberry Point where they have since made their home
Mr. Krieg was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Bertha, Matilda and Norma, and by one brother Henry
He is survived by his wife Bertha; one son Leonard, who lives on the home farm near Communia; one grandson, Neal Krieg; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Wacker of Elkader; Mrs. Alma Nelson of Minneapolis and one brother, Helmuth of Elkader and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at one o'clock from the Witt funeral home in Elkader and at two o'clock from the Immanuel Lutheran church in Strawberry Point with the Rev. S. J. Meyer officiating. Burial was in Strawberry Point cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Otto Schmelzer, Miles Scott, Carl Fults, Ervin Erbes, Harold Downey and Arno Gottschalk. Mrs. Carl Fults and Mrs. Otto Schmelzer were in charge of the flowers.
Those attending the services from a distance were: Mrs. Alma Nelson, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Howard DeSotel, Oelwein; Mrs. Dorothy Culbertson, Dubuque; Mr. and Mrs. Donald DeSotel, Fayette; Mrs. Margaret Menge and family, Greeley; and Mrs. Harold Frederick, Cedar Rapids.
