Funeral services for Louis Bente were held March 04, at Peace Evangelical and Reformed church, the Rev. Paul Kitterer officiating. Burial was in the East Side cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred Bente, Louis Wagner, Oscar Meese, Ralph Bente, Leighton Bente and Duane Bente. Mr. Bente died March 01, at Park hospital, Mason City.
Louis Bente, son of William and Margaret Kress Bente, was born Nov. 13, 1869, in Cox Creek township. On February 20, 1894, he married Ida Dahling at Littleport. They were the parents of five children Mildred Bente, Mason City; Mrs. Lloyd Pfaltzgraff (Hilda) and Irving Bente, Dumont, and Mrs. Arthur Jensen (Evelyn), Osage, and Elda, who died in infancy
Mr. Bente was a farmer until 1907, when he moved to town and went into the real estate business. Later he was manager of the Independence Produce station until his retirement in 1949.
He is survived by his wife and children, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also four sisters, Mrs. Mary Archer, Jacksonville, Fla.; Mrs. Anna Meese, Littleport; Mrs. Kathryn Englert and Mrs. Elizabeth Hesner of Chicago and one brother, Frank of Elkader.

Dahling, Littleport; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Meese, Edgewood; Mr. and Mrs. Lorenz Wilke and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Wilke, Fayette; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Muller, Farmersburg
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Nydegger, Elgin; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bromelkamp, Monona; Mrs. John Bente, Waterville; Marion Jensen, Otranto, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Orlo Jensen and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Jensen, St. Ansgar; and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Dennis, Osage.
