Funeral services were held for Clarence Frye Tuesday afternoon at the Garnavillo funeral home by the Rev. J. Pannkuk. Burial was at Clayton cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dean Jones, Ray Dryer, A. M. Adams, James Spiker, Pat Koehn and Frank Laarveld. The firing squad was made up of veterans from Elkader and Garnavillo.
Clarence Earl Frye, son of Peter Frye and Cecelia Hilgers, was born at Cassville, Wis., April 06, 1891. Some 40 years of his life were spent in Clayton, Iowa and vicinity. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I also serving overseas. He was a member of the McGregor American Legion Post.
He died Friday, Jan. 29, at the Veterans hospital in Des Moines, where he had been a patient since last September.
He is survived by one brother, John Frye of Clayton and nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
