Clayton County Register, 04 Feb. 1954.

Funeral services were held Saturday for Albert Wessel, former Edgewood resident who was killed on the previous Saturday in an airplane crash in the west. Burial was made in Ebenzer cemetery at Wood Center. He is survived by three daughters and a son, two brothers, Arthur of Edgewood and Emil of Larchwood and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Withell of Elkader and Mrs. Sophie Klaus of Earlville.

An architect, Wessel had been living in New York. He had been visiting a daughter in San Diego, California, and had started to return home by plane. The plane left San Diego and 45 minutes later crashed. Wessel, a doctor, a nurse and the plane crew were all killed.
