Funeral services for Edward Jacob Walz, 74, were held Monday, Sept. 24, from the McTaggart funeral home at 10 a.m. to St. Joseph's church, Elkader, with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. D. A. Gorman officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery.

Mr. Walz died at his home Friday, Sept. 21, after a short illness.

Jake, as he was known was born in Volga township near Guttenberg on Sept. 03, 1882. On June 07, 1906, he was married to Clara Pluemer at St. Mary's church, Guttenberg.

Survivors are: his wife, seven sons, Wilbur of Marion, Roland of Strawberry Point, Arnold of Luana, Francis of Marion, Lambert of Fairfax, Calif., Edward of Elkader, and Norbert of St. Olaf; three daughters, Mrs. Lawrence Downey (Jeanette), and Mrs. Wilson Downey (Georgia), Elkader, and Mrs. Eugene Meehan (Florence), Anamosa; 30 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Frank, of Clayton.
