Funeral services were held for Miss Emma Herbranson, Elkader, at the Norway Lutheran church at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 25, with the Rev. Bruce Boyce officiating.
Emma Herbranson, the youngest of 12 children born to Ole and Sigrid Herbranson, was born Feb. 23, 1865, in Wagner township, St. Olaf, Iowa and died in the McGregor hospital Aug. 22 at the age of 91 years, 5 months and 28 days.
Miss Herbranson had been in poor health for the past two years but was not confined to her bed until a few days before her death.
She was baptized, confirmed, and a lifelong member of the Evangelical Lutheran church.
For a few years she operated a store in Inwood, Iowa, later moving to Preston, Minn., where she again, with her brother and sister, went into the mercantile business.
In 1902 she moved to Decorah, Iowa, and after a period of three years she moved back to the farm where she lived until the spring of 1941, when she moved with her brother and two sisters to Elkader, where she spent her remaining years.
Her father and mother together with her brothers and sisters all preceded her in death.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were: Carl Roeder, Irving Christensen, D. D. Roggensack, Walde Embretson.
Relatives who attended from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Knudtson, Eads, Colo.; Maurice Knudtson, Kit Carson, Colo.; and Mr. and Mrs. Fairfax S. Withey, Geneva, N.Y.
